Aaron Rodgers signs with the Pittsburgh Steelers

BREAKING NEWS: Aaron Rodgers has just signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one year deal that didn't surprise anyone. Almost every knowledgeable NFL fan knew that Rodgers was planning on signing with the Steelers, it was just never official until now. So, in this article, we are going to be grading the signing of Aaron Rodgers, and also discussing how it will affect fantasy football in this upcoming season.
It is honestly insane that if you look at Rodgers' stats from last season, he looks like a top ten quarterback. He was eighth in passing yards with 3,897, seventh in passing touchdowns with 28, and twelfth in interceptions with 11. If you look at all of these stats without knowing who the quarterback is, you would most likely say that they are top ten in the league. Rodgers is a big addition to this Steelers roster, and will most likely lead them to another playoff berth.
We would grade this signing a A- for the Steelers. On one side of things, this could propel the Steelers into contention in a weaker AFC conference. With Rodgers at the helm, they could have a huge improvement in their offense this season. On the other side of things, the Steelers just traded away their best receiver in George Pickens, and Rodgers won't have a true number two receiving option to throw besides DK Metcalf. Also, the Steelers somehow scrape their way to nine or ten wins every season anyways, so does this quarterback change much for the Steelers?
On the fantasy side of things, Rodgers with the Steelers doesn't make that big of a difference. Rodgers stats won't drastically improve or decrease, and DK Metcalf's stats as well won't be a huge difference in this upcoming season. As for the other receivers on the team, none of them are worth drafting in fantasy football anyways besides Pat Freiermuth, and you can expect just a slight increase in his production this upcoming season with Aaron Rodgers running the show.
Overall, this was a really good signing by the Pittsburgh Steelers to go out and get Aaron Rodgers to lead them to the promised land this season. Even though this trade won't affect fantasy football that much, it is still really exciting news at this point in the offseason. Just remember for all those fans that are strictly football watchers, there is only two months until football season.
