Fantasy Baseball Player of the Week- 5/2

05/02/2025

Jorge Polanco

Jorge Polanco has been exceptional this season, but this past week he took it to a whole new level. He has posted batting splits of .500/.579/1.563 with five home runs and twelve RBIs in this past week alone. He had a 2.142 OPS last week, which would be the highest of all time in one season.

Of course, we know that Polanco is not going to be the greatest hitter of all time for an entire season, but he has improved drastically from last season to this season. He is STILL only rostered in about 65% of leagues, so if there is any chance you can pick him up, we would highly suggest you do.

Seth Lugo

Seth Lugo had an amazing Cy Young type season last year, but this season it looks as if he might get overshadowed by teamate Kris Bubic. At least, it looked like that before he stepped on the mound this week. He hasn't had the best start to the year, with a 1-3 record and a 3.9 ERA before his last two starts.

In his first start this week against the Astros, he threw eight scoreless innings while striking out eight and only giving up three hits. Then against the Rays, he threw six innnings, giving up just two earned runs and striking out five. This week for Lugo has been huge, and he dropped his ERA by a whole point to 3.07.
