Three Rookie Performances that have Impressed Us

We are about a week into the NBA Summer League, so we have seen every single rookie from the 2025 NBA Draft play at least once, some twice or three times. In this article we are going to be breaking down our favorite three performances from the Summer League so far. These might not necessarily be the best performances, but who impressed and surprised us the most. If you have any complaints about our three performances, make sure to comment on our social media pages. You can find us on X @sfantasyweb and on Instagram @strictlyfantasywebsite. So, let's get right into it and have some fun!
Our first performance from Summer League that we liked was Koby Brea of the Phoenix Suns. Many people didn't even know who Koby Brea was before Summer League started, and they have good reason to. He was the 41st pick in the draft, and he came off the bench at Kentucky, where he just played one season after the transfer from Dayton. In his first Summer League game, he scored 19 points on 7-10 shooting, and made 4-5 three pointers. Three-point shooting is Brea's specialty, as he led the entire NCAA in 3P% in 2024, and was just as good in 2025. Suns fans are already calling Brea the "next Devin Booker" and are extremely pleased with his performances so far.
The next performance is by Cooper Flagg. Everyone and their mother have seen Cooper Flagg's 31 point explosion against the San Antonio Spurs the other night. When facing off against the number two overall pick Dylan Harper, Flagg showed any critics that thought Harper was better. Unfortunately for us fans, Flagg has been shut down by the Mavericks after just two games in the Summer League, so we won't be able to watch him until October.
The last Summer League performance that impressed us was Noa Essengue of the Chicago Bulls. Everyone has been hating on the Bulls for the last couple of seasons because they have been stuck in "purgatory", where they don't make the playoffs, but aren't bad enough to get a top pick. They also have a horrid young core, but Essengue may change that. Tonight, he finished with 21 points with three rebounds and three three-pointers as well. Essengue scored at all three levels tonight, with the ability to get to the rim at ease, hit an open three, and hit multiple tough mid range shots to go alongside it. The NBA better watch out for Noa Essengue, because he will be the next big thing in Chicago.
